Different Types of Calligraphy

Sun Dec 24, 2006, 5:48 PM
Wikipedia has some great articles on the similarities and differences in different types of calligraphy. The main article on calligraphy is here: [link]

For specifically East Asian calligraphy:

I think an important thing to note is that Chinese/Japanese/Korean calligraphy are usually written in Chinese characters, but the meanings of each character will be particular to the respective language it is done in.

For specifically Islamic calligraphy:

I'm not familiar with Islamic calligraphy myself (save for a lecture one of my world history teachers gave back in junior high), but I feel that this article definitely had a lot of solid information and was helpful in briefing over the many details of Islamic calligraphy.

The members list is updated recently --- we have 96 as of today! It's good to see the club continue to steadily grow!

A good discussion started by chibizaki. :giggle: For those of you who wants to discuss the concept and theory on calligraphy, or learn about it, it's a good place to go.

i am guessing this is dedicated to "chinese" (oriental) calligraphy. not western calligraphy.
:iconcalligraphers:
Yes, originally. :P But we welcome western calligraphy too. Just not much has been updated or submited.

My apology for the late reply.
